In addition, Reba's new single "Strange" soared into the Top 25 this week on the Billboard Top Country Songs Chart, resting at #23.
The sassy, tongue-in-cheek rocker, from her late-summer Valory Music Co. debut, is the fastest-rising solo single of her 33-year career of charting songs on Billboard's Top Country Songs Chart. The single – from her first solo studio album in six years - also rose to #26 on the USA Today/ Country Aircheck chart (powered by Mediabase).
The superstar entertainer signed with The Valory Music Co. in November 2008. The move reunited the multimedia entertainer with industry leader Scott Borchetta, now President & CEO of Big Machine Records and sister label The Valory Music Co.

The Valory Music Co. , the sister label to Big Machine Records, was established in November 2007 with an initial artist roster that includes multi-platinum recording artist Jewel as well as Country Soul singer Jimmy Wayne and newcomer Southern Country stylist Justin Moore. The Valory Music Co. celebrated its first #1 album with Jewel's Perfectly Clear , only 7 months after opening its doors. The label celebrated its first #1 single 3 months later when Jimmy Wayne's "Do You Believe Me Now," spent 3 weeks atop the Country singles charts. Reba McEntire favors Kris Allen and Adam Lambert for American Idol
Reba McEntire and I spoke for a few minutes the other day, and the conversation eventually turned to American Idol, as do most of my conversations of any length these days. Turns out Reba's an Idol follower, which is no big surprise, since her husband, Narvel Blackstock, manages Kelly Clarkson.
This season, Reba's rooting for Kris Allen and Adam Lambert.
"I think they're stars," she says. "They've got the charisma. And what's the redheaded girl's name? Allison. I like Allison, also.
"Those three are my favorites. I like the way they sing; I like the way they look when they are singing. It's not just a performance. It's coming through their eyes - that makes a huge difference to me."
Reba's also a fan of Kelly's new album, All I Ever Wanted. "I am so excited about her album," Reba says. "I think it's a wonderful set of songs. They're a real eclectic group of songs. She's got a beautiful ballad, serious songs. It showcases her voice so well."
Because Narvel manages Reba, she got to follow All I Ever Wanted through the creation process. "I heard the demos, I heard when she got through with them," she says. "I saw the videos being pieced together and watched the edits. I just feel like a proud mama."
Reba has a new album of her own coming out later this year and a new single, Strange, that's currently climbing the country charts.

"Strange" Reba McEntire Never Did This Before
In more than three decades of recording, Reba McEntire has won a Grammy Award, collected No. 1 records and nabbed more than 70 gold and platinum honors. Yet she's still finding new heights to scale, as she did this week with "Strange."
The single, released just hours after she introduced it on the "44th Annual Academy of Country Music Awards" show, brought the highest solo chart debut of her career, bursting on to Billboard’s Top Country Songs chart at No. 39. It’s her first release since signing with the Valory Music Co. after a 25-year run with MCA Records.
"I have had the most fun of my career picking out songs for my new record on Valory," she says. "To have this first one be the highest debuting song of my career so far is just icing on the cake."
Reba worked with producer Tony Brown on the album, which is expected this summer

Reba Pulls No Punches
LAS VEGAS-Reba McEntire pulls no punches about the women of country music: she says they put on a better show.
In a genre that -- until very recently -- has been dominated by men, those sound like fighting words. "No, they're truthful," corrected the singer.
"I've watched many, many decades of entertainers," she continued. "And I will go watch females and be totally entertained. And when I watch the males, I love their singing, and their lights. But when the girls come on, you better know that they've come up with something new and innovative, and they're going to give you a show."
It's been some month for women in country, with Martina McBride scoring last week's No. 1 country album ("Shine"), as well as Carrie Underwood (entertainer of the year) and Taylor Swift (album of the year) taking home the ACM's top trophies. McEntire marked her 11th time hosting the telecast, and used the platform to debut her new single, "Strange," released Monday.
It may be McEntire's hardest-rocking, least romantic record to date.
"It's a little bit different," McEntire explained following a rehearsal for last Sunday's Academy of Country Music Awards. "It's tongue-in-cheek. It's a little bit about, you know, 'I'm supposed to be in love with this guy and really heartbroken, but I'm not.' So, it's a tough-woman song."
At 54, McEntire's still got plenty of girl power -- for which she credits some of the new female singers that she influenced, including Underwood and Kelly Clarkson, with whom she recently toured.
"I mean, I had to step up," McEntire recalled. "I didn't get to stand in just certain areas of the stage. I was rockin' right along with her. I was singing her songs, she was singing my songs. We never left the stage during the whole time. And it was a lot of fun. So, when I started looking for new material, that's what I was gravitating to: the more kick-butt type, more youthful-type, attitude songs."
If you doubt McEntire's continuing cool factor, consider that Will Ferrell's "Funny or Die" Web site became "Reba or Die" on April Fool's Day -- loaded with pictures and videos from McEntire's 35-year career.
"When I saw Roy Clark and myself on 'Hee Haw,' I died laughing," McEntire said. "Oh my gosh, (my hair) was jacked up to Jesus! It was big hair, big hair from Oklahoma, Tennessee -- yeah, I had it."
McEntire is on the road this spring and a new album, including "Strange," is due in late summer.
"Where I am in my life and career is very happy. I'm very busy -- not only with the music, but I have a clothing line, a luggage line, shoe line, bedding, bath, and we're going into gift ware, like silver platters and candy dishes. So, that's the way we like it. It keeps us out of trouble. That's what mama always said."

Billboard.com Review of "Strange"
Leave it to Reba McEntire to deliver the ultimate sassy anthem about a woman's resilience. The veteran country singer performed this delightful number April 5 at the Academy of Country Music Awards in Las Vegas, which she also hosted. Written by Jason Sellers, Wendell Mobley and Neil Thrasher, the lyric talks about a woman who finds the sun still shining after a bad breakup. The melody has a cool, edgy feel and McEntire uses her voice to soar, swoop and celebrate the realization that life ain't over because a relationship is. When she sings, "Got half a mind to spend my whole paycheck on one of those dresses/Those strapless black ones that are so famous for teaching lessons," you can just feel the scheming sarcasm. It's a delicious performance from one of country music's most gifted divas. This is the first taste of her debut set for Valory Music, which is also her first solo studio CD in six years. -Deborah Evans Price

April Fools!

In an April Fool's hoax, the owners of www.funnyordie.com relaunced a "New" website called Reba or Die. The claim that Reba took over the site and purchased them. Read the "Official" press release!
FUNNY OR DIE SOLD TO REBA McENTIRE - NEW SITE 'REBA OR DIE' LAUNCHES TODAY
It's Official -- Queen of Country Now Queen of Internet
LOS ANGELES, CA (April 1, 2009) -- Funny or Die, the funniest place on the web, has gone country. Effective immediately, the site will be renamed Reba or Die.
"If you got to be bought out by someone, at least it's Reba," says former Funny or Die co-founder Will Ferrell.
"I have three loves; America, my family and viral internet videos. That's why I have paid 350 million dollars of my own money to buy Funny or Die," says McEntire.
Most of the site changes were implemented today. Funny or Die, which has offices in Palo Alto, CA and Hollywood, CA, offered its staff relocation packages that will cover moving expenses to Chockie, Oklahoma, birth place of Ms. McEntire and new head offices for Reba or Die.
This also made it to the Rolling Stones "Rock's Top Five April Fool's Hoaxes" saying, "And lastly, the folks at FunnyOrDie.com changed formats for April 1st, going all Reba, all the time. Reba Or Die, as the site's been renamed, is up and running, with scads of videos featuring the lovely Reba McEntire. There's music videos, talk show appearances, Reba's cameo from "Tremors," and a hilarious Reba blooper reel."
To funny!
